What is Pilates?

Pilates is for everyone
Pilates concentrates on strengthening the body from your core, leading to an improvement in general fitness and overall well-being. It can be compared to yoga in many ways because of the focus on posture, balance and flexibility. The brilliant news is that, with Pilates, the chance of injury is much lower than with many other forms of exercise, making it an excellent option regardless of age, fitness level or physical ability.

Pilates also focuses on a mind-body connection, requiring awareness of your breathing and the way your body moves. It’s a wonderful way to balance body and mind whatever your goal - whether looking to lose weight, improve general fitness, recover from injury or get back in shape after having a baby.

What is HIP Pilates?
HIP Pilates (High Intensity Power) was developed by Lisa Bradshaw to combine the precision of a traditional Pilates session (focusing on core strength, balance and co-ordination) with the dynamic energy of a high intensity workout (with an energetic cardio element). A mat and hand weights are required.

 

What are the benefits of Pilates?
